For the Love, the Death and the Poetry

For the Love, the Death and the Poetry (Nero Kane) is a folk liturgy that oscillates between longings for eternal love, fascination with death and ghostly poetics. Psychomagic mysticism (As an Angel's Voice), stripped down blues (My Pain Will Come Back to You), apocalyptic drones (Until the Light of Heaven Comes), guitar arpeggios (Mountain of Sin), crepuscolar ballads (There Is No End), shamanic rites (Unto Thee Oh Lord), solemn notes of organ and strings (Receive My Tears), cross gloomy stretches of skeletal American deserts in a dilated, haunting ritual. Echoes of a romantic past (The World Heedless of our Pain), evoke the eternal force of art and love in contrast to the ephemeral vanity of existence, in a redemptive journey through the blinding and dark moorlands of good and evil (Land of Nothing).

The single As an Angel’s Voice is accompanied by an experimental short film directed by Samantha Stella, focusing on objects and symbols that have shaped Nero Kane's artistic journey. The musician describes the track with these words: “A desert of the soul. The Love we were never given, a flutter of wings, the fall into the End. The Eternal.” In the images, the dimensions of past and present reiterate an incessant circularity. Kane and Stella become imprisoned souls in the gothic atmospheres that recall the overturning of life and death roles in Alejandro Amenábar's film The Others. “As if Bela Tarr and Sergei Parajanov found themselves with Alejandro Jodorowsky in the American desert,” Stella remarks.

For the Love, the Death and the Poetry (Nero Kane) è una liturgia folk che oscilla tra aneliti di amore eterno, fascinazione per la morte e poetica spettrale. Misticismo psicomagico (As an Angel’s Voice), blues scarnificato (My Pain Will Come Back to You), droni apocalittici (Until the Light of Heaven Comes), arpeggi di chitarra (Mountain of Sin), ballate crepuscolari (There Is No End), riti sciamanici (Unto Thee Oh Lord), note solenni di organo e archi (Receive My Tears), attraversano cupe distese di scheletrici deserti americani in un rito dilatato e ossessivo. Echi di un passato romantico (The World Heedless of our Pain), rievocano la forza eterna dell’arte e dell’amore in contrasto alla vanità effimera dell’esistenza, in un viaggio di redenzione tra le lande accecanti e oscure del bene e del male (Land of Nothing).

Il singolo As an Angel’s Voice è accompagnato da un cortometraggio sperimentale diretto da Samantha Stella, incentrato su oggetti e simboli che hanno caratterizzato il percorso artistico di Nero Kane. Il musicista descrive il brano con queste parole: “Un deserto dell’anima. L’amore che non ci è mai stato donato, un battito di ali, la caduta nella Fine. L’Eterno.” Nelle immagini, le dimensioni di passato e presente reiterano un’incessante circolarità. Kane e Stella sono anime imprigionate nelle atmosfere gotiche che rimandano al ribaltamento dei ruoli di vita e di morte del film The Others di Alejandro Amenábar. “Come se Bela Tarr e Sergej Parajanov si ritrovassero con Alejandro Jodorowsky nel deserto americano”, aggiunge Stella.
