Of Knowledge and Revelation

Of Knowledge and Revelation is a spiritual pilgrimage through darkness, fog and light. A journey made of solitude, of rise and fall, in a world that recalls Dante's Limbo. Inspirations came from old paintings like "Ascent of the Blessed" (1490) by Hieronymus Bosch, engravings like Dante's "Divina Commedia" (1861) by Gustave Dorè, and writings like "Tears and Saints" (1937) by Emil M. Cioran, “Hymns to the Night” (1800) by Novalis and "The Flowing Light of the Godhead" (1250-1270) by German mystic Mechthild Von Magdeburg, who also appeared in the previous album Tales of Faith and Lunacy.
In the short film a garden of dried flowers full of thorns welcomes the preacher Kane in a visionary and circular journey where love and death are exchanging their roles as in a Dante's circle between Heaven, Purgatory and Hell. A reference to the incipit that introduces the album, an excerpt from the writings of the mystic Mechthild Von Magdeburg, from which the title of the record is taken.

*Of Knowledge and Revelation* è un viaggio spirituale attraverso oscurità, nebbia e luce. Un cammino fatto di solitudine, di ascesa e caduta, in un mondo che ricorda il Limbo dantesco. Sono stati di ispirazione antichi dipinti come "Ascesa all'Empireo" (1490) di Hieronymus Bosch, le incisioni per la "Divina Commedia" di Dante (1861) di Gustave Dorè, gli scritti "Lacrime e Santi" (1937) di Emil M. Cioran, gli “Inni alla Notte” (1800) di Novalis e "La luce fluente della divinità" (1250-1270) della mistica tedesca Mechthild Von Magdeburg, che era già presente nel precedente album *Tales of Faith and Lunacy*.
Nel cortometraggio un giardino di fiori secchi pieni di spine accoglie il predicatore Kane in un viaggio visionario e circolare dove amore e morte si scambiano i ruoli come in un girone dantesco tra Paradiso, Purgatorio e Inferno. Un rimando all’incipit che introduce l’album, un estratto dagli scritti della mistica Mechthild Von Magdeburg, da cui è tratto il titolo del disco.
