Walk of Muses

Column with my concept about Music and Art and interviews with international guests on Artribune, Italian platform/magazine for contemporary art and culture.

Walk of Muses was born at the end of a day saddened by the premature death of the Italian composer, pianist and conductor Ezio Bosso, who with bursting spirit tried to scream the importance of Music as nourishment for humanity, in times where its role, together probably with that of any other artistic language, has often been thwarted. Yet the position reserved for it by the Muses, representing in Greek mythology the supreme ideal of Art, daughters of the gods Zeus and Mnemosyne, was of a completely different caliber. With reference to them and the Walk of Fame celebrity parade, this new column signed by the artist Samantha Stella offers a different portrait of musicians and bands active in our day, through their favorite visual artwork. A loop format asking about the nature of music as an art form in the same way as a sculpture, a painting, a photograph or a moving image.

Walk of Muses nasce al termine di una giornata intristita dalla prematura scomparsa del compositore, pianista e direttore d’orchestra Ezio Bosso, che con prorompente forza d’animo ha cercato di urlare al mondo l’importanza della Musica come nutrimento per l’umanità, in tempi dove il suo ruolo, insieme probabilmente a quello di ogni altro linguaggio artistico, è stato spesso vanificato. Eppure di ben diversa caratura era la collocazione ad essa riservata dalle Muse, figlie delle divinità Zeus e Mnemosine, e rappresentanti nella mitologia greca dell’ideale supremo dell’Arte. Con rimando alle Muse e alla parata di celebrità della Walk of Fame, questa rubrica firmata dall’artista Samantha Stella, offre un diverso ritratto di musicisti e bands attivi nei nostri giorni, attraverso la loro opera d’arte visiva preferita. Un format a loop per interrogarsi sulla natura della musica come forma d’arte alla stessa stregua di una scultura, di un dipinto, di una fotografia o di un’immagine in movimento.
